Episode 10 – Business Coaching Programs – What to Look For

It’s easy to let your emotions lead when you are considering hiring a coach or joining a program. You may want to join a program on the spur of a moment just because you received a fancy, enticing email. However, it’s important to consider coaches and programs as an investment and do your due diligence before choosing one.

In this episode, Carmen Reed-Gilkison and Deirdre Harter discuss the five questions to ask yourself and the five to ask of a coach/program when you’re considering investing in one. They discuss the three things to look for in a coach or program and also how to determine if it’s right for you.

Topics Include:

  • Five questions to ask when you’re considering a coach/program

  • Courses vs. Coaches

  • Prioritizing the next best thing

  • What it means to be coachable

  • Three things to look for in a coach/program

  • How to know if it’s too good to be true

  • Determining if a coach/program is right for you

  • And other topics...

Quotes of Impact:

[01:58 – 02:07] “In order to be successful in business, we believe it’s important to invest in your education as an entrepreneur and as a business owner.”

[05:01 – 05:29] “A program should last a minimum of three months and can last up to a year. A program is more for the bigger thing and the bigger result that you need. It’s not for learning this one thing, it’s really about building foundations, building systems, building in structure, and strategy.”

[07:08 – 07:31] “It’s important that you are able to have sustainable and consistent sales. That should be a top priority for every single business owner, so if you aren’t there yet then I would say address that area first because that’s much more important and that’s going to provide what you need to then invest in all of the other things that you need to put together in your business.”

[09:07 – 09:33] “Are you open-minded enough to accept new ideas and to try new things and to get out of your comfort zone? When you are working with a coach or even inside of a program, even if it’s not a coach directly, let’s say it’s a group coaching, anytime you’re in something that is going to teach you something new or help you implement something new, you really have to be open minded to it.”

[10:31 – 10:45] “Business coaches help you get clarity. We help you define those results and to help you know what result does your business need. What is the thing you need in order to get to the next level?”

[16:20 – 16:33] “Everyone has a different level of experience and expertise. As someone who is about to invest in something, you just want to make sure that you do your due diligence to find out if what they’re offering matches what you need.”

[23:56 – 24:04] “If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. There is a difference between too good to be true and being effective.”
